Covadonga, glorious manifestation of a people’s faith.Home to the Virgen Mary, who watches over the sleep, and comforts the sleeplessness, of the faithful. 2008 is Jubilee Holy Year by declaration of Pope Benedict XVI. It coincides with the 1200th anniversary of the day the Angels’ Cross was donated to the Church in Oviedo by Alfonso II, and the 1100th anniversary of the donation of the Victory Cross to the Cathedral by Alfonso III.
